Race Day 2010: Michelle and supporters
Somewhere, right now, there is a woman that has been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. You may know of this woman. She might be your wife, sister, daughter, or friend. Or you may not know her personally, but have heard many stories of someone who knows of someone. Each year, 20,000 women are diagnosed with this disease and approximately 15,000 women, annually, will die from ovarian cancer.
Michelle was a daughter, friend, teacher, and a very special women. She was diagnosed in 2009 with this disease. In 2010, a group of friends got together to start this race, to support Michelle and raise awareness to this vastly growing disease. Unfortunately, in the fall of 2010, we lost Michelle. Her spirit will continue to live on throughout everyone she has touched. Most importantly, we want to see this race grow, in remembrance of her and to promote the fight against the disease that is taking so many woman's lives. Please visit www.mioca.org for more information on Ovarian Cancer and how to help.
